Perth band Arts Martial just released the track ‘Running’ which is a preview of their upcoming feature length album to be released later this year.
Having been together for three years now, the four-piece have had a rapid rise in the Perth music scene, performing at Big Day Out and now just won a Triple J run competition to open Southbound on January 7th. The exposure the band has received has surely helped them develop their unique sound and their debut full length album release is sure to be a great listen, if ‘Running’ is anything to go by.
According to the boys, ‘Running’ is “the soundtrack to feeling good” but after a listen you cannot think that the song is a bit more serious and heavy lyrically that their description suggested. The track has an interesting two tempo style, with a slower simple drum beat accompanying a catchy guitar loop, before kicking into a slightly faster rockier tempo with a larger bass influence. Throughout the song the crisp vocals of lead singer Jarrod Ross deliver the lyrics with real punch, and add a great deal of emotion to the track.
Having listened to their last EP ‘Silhouette’ and ‘Running’, I am sure this upcoming release will deliver a solid injection of rock into the Aussie music scene. Hopefully we don’t have to wait to long for it to drop.
