Art of Sleeping – Empty Hands

Art of Sleeping are an five piece indie rock band out of Brisbane that have been getting plenty of airplay for their latest single ‘Empty Hands’, and rightly so.

‘Empty Hands’ is a great rock track, featuring some heavy guitar work and absolutely smashing drums. It also comprises some good breaks and harmonies, which really helps to break the intensity of the track. In particular, I love the way the piano blends into this piece, and drives the track so powerfully. In many ways ‘Empty Hands’ reminds me of a much rockier Boy and Bear, which given their success is not a bad thing. Its just such a loud and great indie rock tune. And the best bit, you can download ‘Empty Hands’ for free off Art of Sleeping’s unearthed page.

The band have also released a pretty cool video clip to accompany the single, featuring some hectic wolves. The chase scenes are pretty cool, and I like the forest setting, but I can’t help but feel like the clip is channeling Twilight and the video for Paramore’s hit ‘Decode’. I still enjoyed the clip, but I love the music even more.

The band are also touring the country in support of Owl Eyes. Owl Eyes puts on a pretty good show, so with a support as good as the Art of Sleeping, this is bound to be a pretty sweet gig. Tour details can be found here, so be sure to try and get along.
