The Rubens have just released a new track ‘Don’t Ever Want To Be Found’ full of more of the blues soaked rock and stomping beats that saw them included in Triple Js Hottest 100.
‘Don’t Ever Want To Be Found’ brings a much more intense dirty sound the band, and I like it. It kicks off with the thumping bass drum, before quickly accelerating into a thick mix of bass, soul swept vocals and interjecting keys. The Black Keys influences are still evident, and the vocals by Sam Margin are once again outstanding. I really like the way the band have managed to bring a much tighter, heavier sound to their new track without losing their iconic sound. Its a great listen.
The Rubens have also just returned from New York where they have been working on their debut album with David Kahne (Paul McCartney, Regina Spektor, The Strokes), which will be released later this year. If you can’t wait til then, you can catch the Rubens supporting Lanie Lane on her national tour.
