Wax Witches – Friendzone

Gold Coast punk outfit Wax Witches are back with a new retro punk track called ‘Friendzone‘.

Fast, armed with scrawny vocals and super raw guitars ‘Friendzone’ channels a real early punk sound, reminding me a little of The Ramones. The vocals by Alex Wall, perhaps more famous for his part in the Bleeding Knees Club, are instantly recorgnizable and just give off that upstart auroa that punk is synonomous with. The thing that really resonates about the Wax Witches sound is the sense of nostalgia they bring. Whilst not as in your face or intense as The Bleeding Knees Club, the fuzzed out psychedelic guitars help create a sound that is a little different to plethora of angsty punk bands out there. Its hard not to love the wigged out but brooding nature of this track.

With their album recorded and into the mastering stage, expect to hear more from these punks before the year is out.
