Sydney’s Guineafowl have given us the first glimpse of their upcoming second EP ‘I hope my city loves me still’. ‘Little Death (Make it Rain)’ is a jangle of classic indie songwriting and modern dance music. The initial moody piano and soft deep vocals are built by a stomping bass drum, until the whole tune explodes into a wash of danceable synth and guitar driven fun.
Searching electric guitar and a synth overload add atmosphere to the verses, and combine with clapping drums and easy lyrics for an upbeat singalong chorus.
The production shows the same maturity that Hello Anxiety was praised for, as well as an appreciation for their alternative predecessors, Arcade Fire being the most obvious comparison.
Little Death is 3.5 minutes of foot stomping and closed eyed nodding good times. Check it out!
