Lyke Giants are an indie rock threesome from North East Tasmania, who have been causing a bit of stir on the unearthed charts as of late with their song ‘I’m Home‘.
‘I’m Home’ is a melancholy track that walks through some pretty dark territory, but the slow guitar riffs and high hat work manage to make the sound much brighter than the subject matter. The guys also make good use of some really strange background noises, which really adds a bit of intrigue and spookiness to the song. The vocals are strong and thickly spoken, kind of like James Allan from Scottish band Glasvegas, and sounds quite different from many other bands in Australia – definitely a good thing. Its nice atmospheric style of track, a real nod to the shoegazer influence of the 90s and overall a pretty solid listen.
